THE FALL 2013 SUSTAIN YOURSELF SERIES

Sprouting 101 with Paige Kelly from F.H. King

When:  Thursday, November 17th at 6PM

Where:  F.H. King Office (Ste. 3203 of the Student Activity Center)

What:  Sprouting is the art of germinating seeds to be consumed raw or cooked. This simple growing technique allows for fresh ingredients even into the winter. This workshop will be an introduction into the art of sprouting emphasizing the many types of seeds you can sprout. Additionally, there will be many sprouts to sample, and sprout treats to enjoy!

DYI: Window Gardening with Working Class Student Union, Tom Boyden, and Natalie Hinahara

When:  November 15th at 4:30PM

Where:  F.H. King Office (Ste. 3203 of the Student Activity Center)

What:  Like to grow your own food? Are you lacking the outdoor space to do it? Looking for a way to have fresh greens even into the winter? Come to this workshop and learn how to construct your own window gardening system. Made from plastic bottles, these structures are perfect for any sunlit window.

Vermicomposting 101 with Tom Boyden and Natalie Hinahara from F.H. King

When:  November 21st at 6:30PM

Where:  F.H. King Office (Ste. 3203 of the Student Activity Center)

What:  Get ready to dirty your hands with this workshop about Vermicomposting. Vermicomposting is the process of composting using various worms to create a mixture of decomposing vegetable and food waste. This material can be used to freshen any garden bed!

DYI: Mushroom Chandeliers with Axel Adams from F.H. King 

When:  December 3rd at 6:30PM

Where:  F.H. King Office (Ste. 3203 of the Student Activity Center)

What:  Learn how to grow your own Oyster mushrooms at home! We will be demonstrating the process of sterilizing materials, building and inoculating your own mushroom chandelier.
